Job Description:

We have unlocked the power of technology to reinvent image creation for a fraction of the cost of traditional imagery production and are looking for a creative leader to establish, enforce and evolve our imagery standards on a massive scale. This is a highly cross-functional role, working with teams of artists, production and creative directors to ensure high quality standards across asset outputs while keeping business goals a top priority. The candidates will demonstrate the capacity to build effective toolsets, techniques and workflows that are sustainable for Wayfair’s 3D pipeline. Their leadership skills required them to be effective leaders amongst the team, both technically and artistically.
In this role you will work closely with the 3D Assets Services team and Offshore Partners Production team to develop high standards, identify potential strategies and technical approaches, upskill the artists team and drive the production to deliver on time and on budget. As the architect behind the workflow, the candidates will be able to propose solutions to recurring challenges and work with the software/engineering team to integrate the solutions to the 3D pipeline.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the production team on a daily basis to ensure delivery expectations are met
• Work with artists and leads to determine upcoming needs for 3D assets
• Define technical and creative approaches to improve our 3D asset pipeline
• Work with our offshore artist teams to develop and maintain 3D asset quality and delivery guidelines
• Responsible for the review and overall quality output for our 3D props, architectural parts, and products onsite
• Establish and maintain standards for photorealistic asset production and their workflows
• Participate in the long term vision of the 3D Assets department, create roadmaps, blueprints and other presentations when needed
• Ensure that all assets meet Wayfair’s high quality and technical standards
• Work with software and engineering team to implement solutions to improve our 3D production pipeline
• Provide feedback to internal artist teams during dailies by overseeing asset production internally
• Participate in training sessions and creative meetings
• Troubleshoot asset-related issues on a cross-departmental level
• Drive the automation of our 3D asset creation process
• Help build and maintain our digital asset management system

Job Requirements:

• Creative and detail oriented with a strong aesthetic sense
• Expert working knowledge of 3D softwares and pipelines
• Knowledge of proxies, asset referencing, LODs, geometry modeling, UVs, retopology and displacement.
• Excellent analytical problem solving skills and communication
• Team player mindset and able to give and take direction and feedback
• Ability to work with client approval process
• Able to motivate team members and follow a time sensitive schedule
• Ability to prioritize and escalate issues
• Knowledge of 3ds Max (or equivalent), Vray (or equivalent),

Qualification & Experience:

• 6+ years of experience working in a 3D industry
• Experience as an asset supervisor on photorealistic projects
