Manager, Flight Simulator Maintenance & Engineering – United Airlines Employment

Job Description:

The Simulator Operations department currently has dedicated Technicians, Engineers and Supervisors that support the operation of the Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) equipment at the Flight Training Center. The Manager – Flight Simulator Maintenance and Engineering, will prioritize and direct the daily maintenance and engineering plan and develop plans and schedules for upcoming FSTD modifications and projects. This position requires simulator maintenance and engineering experience, as well as 14 CFR Part 60 knowledge of FSTD qualification and modification requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Attend How-Goes-It Fleet meetings to discuss FSTD performance and reliability
• Review open discrepancies and department Metrics for Interrupt trends and complete mitigation plans
• Manage work rules, overtime, and compliance to the CBA for IBT and IAM represented employees
• Host meetings with the Flight Simulator Engineers to discuss ongoing Engineering activities
• Interface with simulator OEM and vendors to schedule and complete simulator projects and repairs
• Ensure compliance of CFR Part 60 & SQMS processes
• Assign Engineering and Technician work for the Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD)

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Flight Simulator Training Devices, including FAA Initial and Continuing FSTD Qualification requirements, operation, maintenance and modification in accordance with the applicable Qualification Basis
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising or working as a Flight Simulator Technician and/or Flight Simulator Engineer
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
