Job Description:
As a Quality Supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring that the quality inspection support at CCAFS provides launch and mission success. You will provide accountability to the inspection team to drive the correct behaviors. You will be responsible for ensuring resource allocations ensure uninterrupted processing of SpaceX products and vehicles
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with build reliability leaders to prioritize and align on improvement projects
- Lead and manage a staff of inspectors including scheduling and reactive direction to ensure maximization of support
- Identify and set up training programs, and maintain training matrix to ensure cross-training maximizes resource availability
- Read, interpret and work from free form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes
- Perform vehicle inspections as needed to ensure vehicle integration delays are mitigated
- Work with production leaders to identify improvements and drive efficiencies and develop interdepartmental relations
- Review work instructions and planning requirements for clarification and efficiency improvements and making change recommendations or changes when needed
- Support recruiting efforts performing phone interviews and on-site evaluations of inspector candidates
- Facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
- Develop and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement measures in department processes
Job Requirements:
- Able to work 2nd shift schedule: Monday through Friday 4:00PM – 2:00AM
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed
- Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed
- Excellent communication to all levels of the organization, team-building skills, and the ability to influence
Qualification & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying the following: schematics, circuit layouts, and parts list, cable harnesses, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts list, mechanical assemblies
- 2+ years in management/supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or natural sciences with 2+ years of manufacturing experience; or 5+ years of manufacturing experience with at least one year in a quality position
- 2+ years prior leadership experience leading teams, projects and/or people
- Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods
- Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
- Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
