Job Description:

The Cargo Revenue Management Analyst is responsible for the pricing and capacity decisions for a specific region of the Southwest’s Cargo business. This position will be responsible for a variety of ad-hoc projects and analyses designed to increase revenue, understand performance, and/or improve the department’s ability to make profit maximizing decisions

Job Responsibilities:

  • Optimize cargo capacity forecast at a flight level making necessary adjustments to balance service level and revenue performance
  • Analyze and mitigate pricing exceptions, promotions, and adjustments by assessing the financial risk, impact, and opportunity in order to provide guidance to mitigate
  • Monitor space available reports for inaccuracies by identifying flight disparities, determining if adjustments/rerouting is necessary, and proactively make corrections
  • Demonstrates and understanding of market performance by reviewing trends, yields, and historical performance; monitoring the competitive environment; and staying apprised of all industry issues pertaining to pricing and routing initiatives
  • Maintain a basic industry knowledge and general understanding of the competitive landscape including analyzing competitor pricing, researching dynamics and trends of the local market, investigating demand generators, developing forecasts, and studying historical data to ensure adequate market knowledge
  • Evaluate pricing requests from Sales Managers by analyzing historical trends, Customer behavior, forecast demand, and competitive intelligence in order to make recommendations within the limits of approved policies and procedures
  • Analyze routing schedules by reviewing a multitude of cross-divisional variables such as station restrictions, flight type restrictions, and handling time and requirements in order to provide guidance and recommendations to meet Customer’s cargo needs, under direct supervision
  • Analyze current and historical results of pricing activity and transaction data; identifies trends and has a fundamental understanding of the data; can make basic recommendations to improve pricing performance
  • Build effective working relationships with Sales Management to strategize and develop pricing, both domestically and internationally, for prospective and existing business while ensuring its competitiveness and alignment with corporate objectives

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Excellent mathematical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong aptitude for creative problem solving and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into concise presentations, insights, and recommendations
  • Capacity to work, with limited supervision, handling highly detail-oriented tasks, under tight time frames, with multiple concurrent assignments
  • Must be detail-oriented while still seeing the big picture

Job Requirements:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree – Preferably in Business, Finance, Economics or Math
  • Preferred: 2 Years – Experience in Revenue Management or equivalent analytical environment
