Job Description:
The Engineering Directorate at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking candidates to serve as a Materials Engineer across their organizations. This position includes the development, evaluation, selection, and application of advanced structural materials to aerospace systems such as aircraft and spacecraft structures and their power and propulsion systems.
Job Requirements:
In addition to the basic education requirement (shown below), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing engineering development, evaluation, selection, and/or application of advanced structural materials to aerospace systems; researching and resolving engineering related problems; utilizing calculations and scientific techniques for testing, evaluating and integration of advanced structural materials to determine viability of advanced structural materials for aerospace systems, aircraft or spacecraft structures and their power and/or propulsion systems. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level providing technical guidance to engineers and/or performing as a subject matter expert on structural materials; performing engineering development, evaluation, selection, and/or application of advanced structural materials to aerospace systems; researching and resolving engineering related problems; utilizing calculations and scientific techniques for testing, evaluating and/or integration of advanced structural materials to determine viability of advanced structural materials for aerospace systems, aircraft or spacecraft structures and their power and/or propulsion systems.
