Job Description:

The Trade Compliance Analyst position focuses on ensuring adherence with company policy and procedures as they relate to International Trade (export, sanctions) and Antiboycott Laws. The selected individual will be expected to clearly and effectively interpret, communicate, guide, and where appropriate, influence business units on a wide variety of transactions or dealings that trigger international trade or antiboycott compliance requirements. The position will be expected to partner with the regional compliance analysts to ensure that appropriate processes for international trade and antiboycott are implemented by the business unit. The position is expected to develop an understanding of the business unit’s export and import activities, as well as an awareness of any Free Trade Agreements that may impact the business operations. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical capabilities, good judgment in identifying issues and elevating to counsel as may be necessary, a willingness to learn new compliance procedures, and to be a leader in advocating for trade compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide clearance authorization for transfers of goods, software and data
    As requested by the Compliance Analyst, provide training/presentations to impacted personnel within the business unit or to leadership
    Serve as primary point of contact for supported business unit personnel needing guidance on trade compliance requirements to include export, sanctions and antiboycott compliance
    Review, and provide guidance to the business for all third-party network access requests, working closely with counsel
    Make preliminary assessment of potential licensing needs based on the classification of items
    Collaborate with the Compliance Analyst to establish and help deploy appropriate compliance procedures
    Assist the business unit with the third-party sanctions screening process, providing sanctions clearances consistent with guidance provided by counsel
    Maintain records as required by the Chevron Retention policy
    Assist the business unit with reporting requirements for the automated Iranian Transactions Reporting tool
    Provide guidance and assistance for the export classification of products, software and data
    Provide guidance on the reporting requirements for antiboycott compliance, including the use of the Corporate antiboycott reporting tool
    Conduct initial review of contracts which seek modifications to trade compliance clauses and provide an assessment of the changes as well as a proposal for further modification, working closely with trade counsel
    Work closely with Compliance Law to timely escalate any potential, perceived or actual violations or issues reported by the business unit

Job Requirements:

  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or Legal Studies, minimum 1-2 years of experience with International Trade,
  • Import/Export and experience in the energy, oil services, global supplier, and / or banking industry are a plus.
  • Effective internet and research skills
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem solving and organization skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
