Job Description:
Primary owner of the outbound transportation operations. Facilitates collaborative efforts with outbound carrier partners to review KPI’s, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and drive results. Prepares and delivers carrier quarterly business reviews. Diversifies carrier base and leads new carrier on-boarding efforts. The ideal candidate has a background in TL, LTL, and small parcel logistics. Accountable for creating and achieving cost savings, managing capacity, service performance and quality targets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of carrier network based upon NAM distribution strategies
- Provide support to NAM operations for month end/quarter end/peak equipment needs
- Involved in the development and execution of department strategy and setting of team goals
- Maintain and develop relationships with outbound domestic carriers (TL, LTL, Parcel, IM)
- Provide carrier equipment, operational support, and delivery support for special events
- Attend carrier onsite visits and weekly phone calls to discuss outbound carrier performance
- Review performance metrics (quality, speed, cost, etc.) for outbound transportation and develop improvement plans
- Support and provide input for TMS development and implementation
- Liaise with key stakeholders to provide visibility of transportation flows. Identify and communicate risk and develop risk mitigation solutions
- Provide recommendations for outbound carrier process improvements
- Provide carrier instructions for inbound domestic vendor shipments
- Provide support to NAM operations with stock transfer equipment needs.
- Liaise with retail and operations teams to support COTIF improvements as well as support with new store/load in projects
Job Requirements:
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams across multiple businesses
- A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Access
- Self-motivated, high energy that can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both formal and informal communications
- Comfortable presenting to senior leaders and project teams
- Ability to take ownership of a project, prioritizes effectively, and ultimately drives the project through to completion.
- Knowledge of Transportation process
- Excellent analysis and data management skills with demonstrated ability to organize data and extract insights in a logical manner
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management/Logistics. We welcome other relevant experience or a combination of education and experience in place of formal education or a degree.
- 5 or more years of experience in the supply chain or logistics industry
- Six Sigma and/or Master’s degree preferred.
